December 8, 2009 - The Little Compton Republican Town Committee unanimously endorsed Republican candidate for Attorney General, Erik Wallin, becoming the first GOP committee to do so. "The Little Compton Republican Town Committee fully supports Erik's campaign to crack down on public corruption and crime in our state. We believe that Erik has the experience, leadership and independence to make the citizens and businesses of our state safer and free from having to pay-to-play," said Patrice Hagan, Chairwoman of the Committee.
"I appreciate the confidence of the Little Compton Republican Town Committee in my campaign and my commitment to take on the public corruption which continues to plague our State and line the pockets of insiders with our money and Rhode Island’s future," commented Wallin.
A native Rhode Islander, Attorney Erik Wallin graduated from Roger William’s School of Law and served on Active Duty in the United States Air Force as a Captain and JAG, handling federal criminal cases in military courts. Upon returning to Rhode Island, Attorney Wallin was appointed as a Special Assistant Attorney General in 2003. Over a period of five years at the Department of the Attorney General, Wallin worked closely with members of local, state and federal law enforcement, developing strong and effective relationships. During this period he successfully prosecuted a wide array of cases including those involving: violent felonies and sexual assaults, domestic violence, driving under the influence (serious bodily injury resulting), public corruption and financial crimes. He served in various units within the Department. Attorney Wallin carried a case load of major felony cases and appeared before the Providence County, Washington County and State Wide Grand Juries, securing indictments in cases involving public corruption, child molestations, murder and others.
Attorney Wallin has traveled the state with the message that being committed to fighting corruption requires leadership from the Attorney General. Attorney Wallin has proposed a Public Corruption Task Force, staffed with seasoned prosecutors and investigators to immediately initiate an investigation when corruption is suspected. In addition, Attorney Wallin has proposed an Attorney General 24-hour corruption hot-line so that Rhode Islanders can provide information and/or tips.
